Send us a letter indicating your preferred interest, whether you are coming in for internship or for standard voluntary work, and importantly send us your CV with your skills and qualifications as well. Thank you.
1. SECTOR: EDUCATION
We provide placements for volunteers who find itinteresting and challenging to take on social responsibility and can communicate in English, which is the medium of instruction in Ghana's schools. Volunteer placements and teaching work experience are to be provided in the schools for the Blind and Deaf and in Nursery Schools as well as in the realm of teaching ICT, Mathematics, English in Senior High Schools and in Vocational Schools throughout the country.
There are vacancies in these institutions to take in volunteers to support and improve the education sector because a number of these institutions are understaffed and not well resourced, so volunteers in theses sectors are highly welcome.
2. SECTOR: HEALTH
We provide placement for volunteers who want to work in clinics, hospitals and in other health facilities in rural communities and in the towns where their services are mostly needed, to complement the already overstretched staff and the understaffed health personnel.
The volunteer should have a measure of experience and qualification in this field with proofs, either as Doctor or Nurse, or a Student Nurse or a Medical Student and want to make a practicum, or want to have a work experience abroad in this field. Volunteers work ranges from assisting nurses, taking blood pressure, dressing sores and wounds, working in departments like Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Diabetes, Optometry, Pharmacy and Nutrition to improve the health sector. The health ministry is very particular about the health of children and women and therefore need more hands.
You can also volunteer with the Vertinary service.
3. SECTOR: ENVIRONMENT
We provide placement for volunteers who are interested in working in organisations and departments working on environmental conservation and other environmental service programmes like tree planting programmes, preservation of water bodies, clean energy projects and E-waste management. We also collaborate with other local NGOs who are working on the environment.
4. SECTOR: ORPHANAGE HOMES
There are lots of children born to destitute parents who abandon their children at church premises, on the streets, at the hospitals and clinics and other places very malnourished and the parents could not be traced, Also there are children born to parents who have both lost their lives through motor accidents and others through HIV/AIDS, but God being so good these children are found and taken to the orphanage homes and given a new life. Here they are given education, are properly cared for and given love which in other words would have eluded them.
We therefore collaborate with these orphanage homes by providing them with placement of volunteers who will like to work there to assist the caregivers in their day to day work, bringing smiles on the faces of the little ones and give them hope and reason for their lives. Gifts in the form of toys and books could be brought for these sweet little children who need our attention.
5. SECTOR: CHARITY WORK
What do we want to be known for? We believe we can make an impact in the world through the little charity work we do. We believe that if we give our energy to the needy and the underprivileged it is of blessings and our contribution in making the world a better place.
We therefore provide support and assistance in the form of providing school bags, exercise books and paying for the school fees of some identified needy but brilliant children in the society especially girls whom we believe if we help empower them with education, we empower the future of the country. Some identified needy students at the schools for the Blind and Deaf are also supported with some of their material needs.
We visit the children hospitals to make donations of all kinds ranging from food to bedding and to spend some time with the children. We are therefore seeking for strong partnership and support from other charity organisations that identify with us and will also want to give to the children who are in need here. Work & Happiness is craving the indulgence of all volunteers who will join us to make some little packages which could be given out as a gift to the above mentioned group of people.
6: INTERNSHIP
Work & Happiness Organisation Ghana also works with students who want to do their internship here. The outline of work is very similar to that of the regular volunteer placement where interns will also stay with host families. However placement will be done according to the choice of the intern. An official evaluation and assessment report will be given to you after your working period, which will be very useful for the volunteers professional career and study in the near future. It is very intensive, if you have any question please do not hesitate to email us or call us for clarification. Internships last for at least 3 months.
We offer a maximum of 10 vacancies for interns in a year for effective supervision. Interns in health should make available an ID approving them as either a medical student or a student nurse.
