.: HOME - About Us :.
Work and Happiness Organisation Ghana is a voluntary non-profit service organisation working in rural areas to empower rural communities to strive for sustainable development, in the fields of teaching, environmental protection, working in orphanage homes, clinics and hospitals to assist the overstretched and understaffed personnel in the provision of care.
We are based in Koforidua, the Regional capital of Eastern Region. We offer volunteers' extensive support during their participation and stay. We are legally registered in Ghana to operate with the registration number G-29,378.
We also do charity work in these rural communities, where we provide school children with school bags, shoes and exercise books, to motivate them to regularly attend and stay in school. Equally important, we also identify needy but brilliant children and put them in school, especially girls whom we believe when educated will empower them, thereby empowering the future the country.
We therefore provide an opportunity for young people to come to Ghana to do voluntary work in these areas of Health, Education, and Environment; and also work in Orphanage Homes, for a period up to 12 months according to the choice of the volunteer. This we facilitate, by arranging for volunteers to stay with host families, in a descent single room accommodation. We do this to enable the volunteer to be part of the Ghanaian family, learn more about the culture of the people, understand the people and share experience.
Host families are given orientation to get ready and prepared to receive volunteers. Work & Happiness Organisation also creates a platform where volunteers can have discussions on topical issues that border their minds, be it Ghana, Africa or international with their Ghanaian colleagues.
Vision & Mission
Our vision is to see a world in which people are mutually respected and appreciated irrespective of where they are coming from. It is also our strongest vision to wipe the tears of the needy with the little that we can offer. Our mission is to provide a platform that unites people across cultures, by building relationships to increase understanding and unity among peoples of different cultures and countries.
Benefits to the Community and the Volunteer
The communities will benefit from the volunteers, through the services they render in institutions like hospitals, orphanage, schools and in environmental protection programmes like tree planting projects. These services will bring a lot of relief to the communities. Volunteers will learn social skills and acquire very useful work experience abroad in a useful project which can serve as a good reference when looking for job. Friendship will be developed among volunteers and host families, and among volunteers and the institutions they work with, which could earn them the chance to visit regularly and be part of the family.
